Reclaim Your Smile & Regain Your Confidence
Dr. Myles is one of the first dentists in Northern Virginia to offer digital dentures. Unlike the dentures of yesteryear that took at least five dental visits and numerous adjustments to make, digital dentures are generally made in just two appointments. By using CAD-CAM technology, a denture can be designed with an incredible fit and appearance. If you lose or break your denture, a permanent digital record of it is kept so a new one can be made right away. Also, a second denture set can be made at the time of the two appointments so you’ll never be without your teeth again.
Dentures and Their Benefits
Full dentures are removable prosthetics that replace either all of the upper or all of the lower teeth. They consist of a gum-colored base that supports an entire row of artificial teeth, which are usually made out of porcelain or acrylic.
Some of the primary benefits of dentures include:
They are easy to care for
They are cost-effective
They look quite natural
They can enable you to enjoy most foods
The Denture Process
The process for digital dentures may involve as few as two appointments. At the first appointment, we’ll take some impressions of your teeth and record data about your bite. Dr. Myles will send that information to a laboratory and use advanced software to create a digital model for your dentures. Once Dr. Myles approves the denture design, the lab will fabricate your prosthesis. You could have your new smile in as little as one week!
Partial Dentures and Their Benefits
A partial denture is similar to a full denture, but with one big exception. Rather than replacing an entire row of lost teeth, a partial denture fits in around the remaining natural teeth, filling in the empty spaces throughout a dental arch. The benefits that partial dentures offer are similar to those offered by full dentures.
The Cost of Dentures
Dentures tend to cost less than other forms of tooth replacement, such as dental implants. We’ll give you a personalized estimate for the cost of your dentures during your consultation. In many cases, dental insurance is willing to cover a significant portion of their price. Our team will also be happy to help you apply for financing or sign up for our in-house savings plan, which can reduce the cost of your treatment by 15 percent.
Caring for Your Denture
With proper care, a denture can serve you well for 5 – 8 years. Here are a few tips to help your new smile stand the test of time:
Clean your dentures and your gums daily
Keep your dentures moist when you are not wearing them
Remove your dentures when you are standing above the sink or above a soft surface (so they will not break if you drop them)
Visit us regularly so we can adjust your dentures if necessary
Are Dentures Right for Me?
Dentures are an excellent option for patients who have lost a significant number of teeth and who are looking for a cost-effective way to rebuild their smile. However, Dr. Myles may recommend implant-supported tooth replacement instead if your jawbone is in fairly good shape and you want to have new teeth that are as sturdy and long-lasting as possible.
